Becker Library Welcomes New Clinical Resources Librarian

The Bernard Becker Medical Library is happy to announce that Will Olmstadt has joined its staff as the new Clinical Resources Librarian. Will’s responsibilities will include working to expand clinical library services, acting as a resource for evidence-based practice, and serving as liaison to the departments of Neurology, Physical Therapy, and Psychiatric Epidemiology.

Prior to joining Becker, Will served on the library staff at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and Texas A&M University Medical Sciences Library in College Station. Most recently he was the library director for DeVry University in Irving, Texas. Will has served as a librarian on rounds with diverse health care professionals, including physicians, nurses and veterinarians. He has also co-taught in courses for public health informatics and postdoctoral researchers.

Will’s experience with evidence-based practice resources includes a significant project grading the quality of clinical trials for brief interventions following alcohol-related injury. In 2005 he completed a major project using GIS to map Medically Underserved Areas in Dallas and Tarrant County, Texas, and making recommendations about culturally competent care in those areas.

A native of Kentucky, Will has earned MPH and MLS degrees, and is a Senior member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals of the Medical Library Association.
