Description:
This 1.5 hour class discusses the shift from the traditional, expert model of clinical decision-making to the current evidence-based model. The course covers the development of evidence-based practice, how to ask answerable clinical questions, and highlights specific evidence-based resources provided by Becker Medical Library, with opportunity for hands-on practice.
Goals:
To introduce Evidence Based Medicine Resources to the Washington Medical School community.
Objectives:
To create an environment, based in practice, for the audience to learn about and apply evidence based medicine resources to clinical questions.
Intended Results:
- Understand the clinical questions
- Formulate the “right” clinical questions
- Explore the usefulness of systematic reviews
- Identify the most essential resources for evidence-based medical questions
- Gain practical/hands-on experience with the available resources
