Structure
CME Credits: 0
Target Audience:
The course is intended for principal investigators, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and other scientific staff who would like to learn more about 3D structural data and resources.
Prerequisite:
None
Description:
This class will offer an introduction to NCBI structure-oriented tools and databases such as Cn3D, CDD, and VAST. The class will also identify software and database resources from NCBI and other sources which may be useful in the lab.
Goals:
To provide a short course on various structure tools and databases, providing efficient methodologies for searching the databases and arriving at specified results.
Objectives:
To present the various resources available in such a manner that they may be used most efficiently to retrieve and analyze data.
Intended Results:
- Understand the content and organization of structural databases at NCBI
- Use Cn3D to analyze a 3D structure, save and export a figure
- Become familiar with the Conserved Domain Database (CDD) and Vector Alignment Search Tool (VAST)
- Locate other structure-based resources (tools and databases) which might be useful
