Spotfire I
CME Credits: 0
Target Audience:
Faculty, researchers, staff and students who are interested in the Gene Expression data analysis tool.
Prerequisite:
None
Description:
This is the first course in a two-session course, with each session will lasting three and half hours. Session I will focus on the core capabilities of Spotfrie DecisionSite for Functional Genomics, which includes interactive visualizations, 3-D scatter plots, pie charts, bar charts, line charts, profile charts, heat map, and data filtering methods. Session II will cover the statistical capabilities of Spotfire DecisionSite for Functional Genomics, including data processing and normalization, pattern detection, and treatment comparisons. Additional statistics capabilities including chi-square test, summary statistics tables and box plots will also be discussed.
Goals:
Spotfire DecisonSite provides an interactive, visual approach to data analysis that empowers individuals to quickly and easily see trends, patterns, outliers and unanticipated relationships in data.
Objectives:
To present the core functionalities of Spotfire DecisionSite and provide different similarity searching methods and statistical functionalities.
Intended Results:
- Be familiar with the correct data format.
- Have knowledge of different data access methods.
- Be familiar with data drill-down and different data filtering methods.
- Create new data columns either based on existing data or from external data resources.
- Be familiar with the visualization: 2-D and 3-D scatter plots, profile chart, heat maps, pie charts, bar charts and line charts. Create interactive visualization, how to filter data to isolate genes of interest.
- Be able to assign appropriate coloring setting for heat map based on the different data value range.
