Translational Research Support
The Translational Research Support Division provides specialized knowledge, customized programs and services, and unique information resources to support Washington University’s broader goals of connecting basic research to patient care by focusing on three distinct areas:
- Bioinformatics and Biomedical Research – Two bioinformaticists provide instruction, course development, consultation services, and support for specialized software and databases for the biomedical research community. The division also supports initiatives and tools to enhance collaboration among WU research faculty.
- Scholarly Communications – As the digital age redefines standard publishing models and new government policies require greater public access to scientific information, the division features a scholarly communications specialist to provide resources and services to increase awareness among faculty of the issues and options for disseminating and storing scientific information.
- Consumer Health and Community Outreach – A consumer health librarian develops resources and programs to promote health information literacy to consumers, patients, and the WU community and provides ongoing support to the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Family Resource Center. The division also works with faculty and community partners to develop health information outreach initiatives for the St. Louis community.
