Portrait of Henry G. Schwartz, M.D., by James J. Ingwersen, 1974. Oil on canvas, framed, total dimensions 46 x 37 inches. A brass plaque on the base of the frame reads “HENRY G. SCHWARTZ / Professor and Head of the Division of Neurological Surgery at Washington / University School of Medicine and Neurosurgeon-in-chief at Barnes and / Allied Hospitals and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. 1946-1974. On April 24, 1974 his residents presented this portrait to the Washington University School of Medicine.” The plaque was engraved and affixed by McCaughen and Associates in 1974. The portrait was in the custody of Barnes Hospital, 1974 until relocation in the Henry G. Schwartz Archives and Rare Book Room in 1991. |
