Portrait of Moses Montrose Pallen, by an unknown artist, n.d. Oil on canvas, framed, total dimensions 37.5 x 32.5 inches. A brass plaque on the base of the frame reads “M. M. PALLEN.” Pallen was professor of obstetrics and of the diseases of women at St. Louis Medical College from 1844 to 1870. He as a founder and one time president of the St. Louis Academy of Science. He also served as a president of the St. Louis Medical Society. The portrait was restored and covered by protective glass by Hal P. Blagbrough, Jr. of Blagbrough Galleries, Inc., St. Louis, in 1994. |
