Portrait of Carl V. Moore, M.D. by William F. Draper, 1973. Oil on canvas, framed, with protective glass, total dimensions 54.5 x 41 inches. A brass plaque on the base of the frame reads “CARL V. MOORE / BUSCH PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE / 1955-1972.” The portrait was a gift of contributors to the Carl V. Moore portrait fund. Moore was also a dean of the School of Medicine (1954-1955), and first Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs (1964-1965). The frame was restored by Hal P. Blagbrough, Jr. of Blagbrough Galleries, Inc., St. Louis, in 2003: painter’s gold leaf was applied to several chips and marks to the frame. |
