Description: Portrait of Elisha H. Gregory, by Richard E. Miller, 1902. Oil on canvas, framed, total dimensions 60 x 48 inches. Two brass plaques are attached to the base of the frame, reading respectively: “Elisha Hall Gregory” and “Elisha Hall Gregory, 1824-1906, M.D., St. Louis Medical College, 1849.” Gregory was a professor of anatomy and surgery at St. Louis Medical College and Washington University. The portrait was exhibited at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair.
